Marshall Hudes

Marshall is an entrepreneurial executive with over 15 years of experience in developing businesses from inception to profitability, expansion and acquisition. Prior to Merchant Advantage, he served as COO of Exault LLC & Exault Inc., In 2001, Marshall co-led the M&A effort leading to the closing of VeriSign’s (NASDAQ: VRSN) acquisition of Exault LLC & Exault Inc. Post acquisition, Marshall created a managed security services offering to complement VeriSign’s PKI and certificate managed offerings. Marshall is also one of the founders and board members of Open Market Partners, a cutting edge company that has created healthcare cost indices for use by the financial markets for the purpose of hedging healthcare risk. Marshall began his career with Andersen Consulting in the Technology Consulting Group aligned to the utility industry practice out of the New York office. Mr. Hudes holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree focused on Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University.


Adam S. Birnbaum

Mr.Birnbaum is a Founder of Grandwood Capital LLC, which provides advisory services to growing middle market companies.  Prior to founding Grandwood,  Mr. Birnbaum spent over 18 years working with some of the largest investment banks and financial institutions in the world. Mr. Birnbaum joined Dean Witter in 1985 where he supervised investment banking professionals and dedicated groups.  Mr. Birnbaum joined Prudential Securities in May of 1997 as a Managing Director, he was one of the first investment bankers at a major full service Wall Street Firm to start and oversee an investment banking group specifically dedicated to serving the needs of business service and outsourcing companies.

Mr. Birnbaum graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a BS in international business and finance where he was a recipient of the John Ben Snow Academic Scholarship and the Financial Executive Institute’s award for outstanding scholarship in Finance.     Mr. Birnbaum received his MBA in Finance from New York University.   Upon graduating from New York University, Mr. Birnbaum was with Touche Ross & Co.


Michael J. Mortell

Mr.Mortell is a Founder of Grandwood Capital LLC, which provides advisory services to growing middle market companies. Previous to founding Grandwood, Mr. Mortell was a Managing Director and Group Head of the Private Equity Financing Group (“PEFG”) at Prudential Securities’ Investment Banking Division.   Under Mr. Mortell’s leadership, PEFG became one of Prudential’s strongest franchises, raising over $750 million of capital.   Mr. Mortell was promoted to Group Head after just two years at Prudential.  Previous to Prudential, Mr. Mortell spent six years working for Zolfo, Cooper & Co. as a management consultant specializing in corporate turnarounds and restructurings.   While at Zolfo, Cooper & Co., Mr. Mortell represented numerous debtor organizations including bankruptcy and out-of-court restructurings, in addition to representing creditors and creditor committees, both secured and unsecured, and also in and out of bankruptcy.   Mr. Mortell began his career at the General Electric Company (“GE”) graduating from GE’s financial management program with honors and spending two years with GE’s highly-regarded corporate international audit staff.

Mr. Mortell received a B.S. degree from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. and received an MBA in marketing and finance from the University of Chicago.   Mr. Mortell was also an instructor in Finance and Accounting at University of Chicago’s School of Continuing Education.


Leslie Solomon

Ms. Solomon serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Liquid Technology LLC, an experienced senior executive and advisor; she has expertise in strategic planning, operations, financial management, and problem-solving. At Liquid Technology, she is implementing cross-functional management systems and processes, supporting the company’s organizational and operational growth. In addition to her Liquid Technology role, Ms. Solomon works with regional workforce development organizations to develop manufacturing and construction skills training programs that address the needs of the local industrial economy.

Ms. Solomon has served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer and advised companies across various manufacturing and services sectors. As the founding partner of a boutique financial advisory and investment banking firm, she led equity and debt financings and completed buy/sell transactions connected to value realization of closely-held enterprises. Ms. Solomon holds an MBA in Management from the Wharton School of the University of PA, and an AB in Economics from Smith College.
