New Jersey Amends Data Breach Law

Recently, New Jersey officially passed a bill that amends its data breach notification law. The Bill S-52 expands the definition of personal information.  According to the law, once this information is exposed the company is required to issue a notification. Under the revised bill any identifying account holder information would be considered personal information. This includes an account username and email address. The law will take effect on September 1, 2019.
